Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District Press Release
LAKE BARRINGTON, IL—The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) honored the dedication of the Department’s chief officers, and pinned badges on new firefighters who successfully completed their probationary service periods, during a January 16th ceremony that drew nearly 200 people to its Lake Barrington Fire Station.
James Kreher, a seasoned professional with nearly 40 years of fire service experience, was officially sworn-in as BCFPD Fire Chief by Board President Keith Hanson.
President Hanson credited Chief Kreher, who joined the BCFPD in 2014 and had served as Acting Chief since July 2016, for his “service, skills, and dedication” to BCFPD residents.
Next, Deputy Chief Donald Wenschhof, III, and Assistant Chiefs Nick Asta and Scott
Motisi, were administered the oath of office for their respective positions.
The ceremony also recognized recently-promoted officers, including Battalion Chief Brett Haller; Captain Angela Grandgeorge; and Lieutenants Byron Johnson, Eric Mandel, Matt McKinnon, and Kyle Racina.
New firefighters who received their badges were Nick DeLaurentis, Justin Kenyon, Cody Kruse, Zach Major, Dan Murphy, Jessica Potoczky, Matthew Reibel, and Sean Wagner.
Following each oath, BCFPD personnel had their badges “pinned” to their uniforms by family members. The assembled audience also included local elected officials, and firefighters and officers from several neighboring fire departments.
“Tonight, we honor the commitment, competence, and skills of the firefighters who serve the nearly 50 square miles and seven separate communities that comprise our district,” President Hanson said during introductory remarks. “Their unflinching, selfless dedication to our well-being represents the very best in public service.”
