Dedication of Civil War Memorial Marker – Success!

The Barrington Area & the Council of Barrington Garden Clubs dedicated Blue Star Memorial Marker.

The event took place at 1:00pm on Memorial Day, we be dedicated the newly installed Blue Star Memorial Marker. The marker honors the residents in the area whom enlisted to serve the Union Army during the Civil War at the site.

“The really neat part is the historical connection that the ceremony had. At the site there is a plaque that was dedicated exactly 80 years ago on Memorial Day honoring the 91 persons that enlisted at the site. We very closely followed that original program from 1933! We found the program as printed in the Barrington Courier Review in 1933 on microfilm in the Barrington Area Libraries Archive.”
— Bob Kosin Barrington Hills Village Administration.

While the rain forced us inside for the bulk of the program nearly all in attendance made the trek, in the drizzle, to the Blue Star Marker. All watched as members of the Council of Barrington Garden Clubs, CBGC President Virginia Everist, President Martin McLaughlin, and Jim Zingales of the Barrington History Museum unveiled the Blue Star Memorial Marker. This is truly a group effort and all involved deserve great applause.
