Surviving Spouse Tax Abatement

Attention Cook County Surviving Spouses of Fallen Heroes! 

Cook County residents are now eligible to apply for the Surviving Spouse Tax Abatement. The program serves the surviving spouse of a fallen police officer, soldier or rescue worker, and can abate up to 100% of a surviving spouse’s Cook County property tax liability. The Cook County Board of Review will administer the program, and surviving spouses can apply for the abatement through the Board of Review.
