Labor Day is Monday, September 2nd. What is it and why is it recognized?  History.com provides the full answer but here’s an excerpt:

Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is traditionally observed on the first Monday in September. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.

Per other sources, Labor Day unofficially symbolizes the end of the summer season, the kick-off of the NFL season, the nearing end of boating season and the recurring question if white can still be worn…

Village Hall offices will be closed in observance of this federal holiday. For emergencies, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call QuadCom Dispatch at 847-428-8784.
