At the April 26, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting, Sergeant David Kann was presented the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) Patriot Award, presented by Douglas Wallace, ESGR’s North East Illinois Chairman.
An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve may nominate individual supervisors for support provided directly to the nominating Service member. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.1
Barrington Hills Police Officer Gary Deutschle, who is currently deployed serving in the Illinois Army and Air National Guard, nominated his direct supervisor, Sergeant David Kann, to receive the Patriot Award in recognition of his continuous, above-and-beyond assistance as Officer Deutschle prepared for deployment.
Police Chief Joseph Colditz was also mentioned in the nomination, but Patriot Awards are awarded to individual supervisors, not an entire staff or the employing organization as a whole.
We congratulate Sergeant David Kann on this recognition and thank Officer Gary Deutschle for his selfless service to our community and country!
We honor all of our brave US Military and Law Enforcement servicemen and women who selflessly sacrifice to serve our country and communities, safeguarding our freedom and our future.
