Congratulations to all medalists and to everyone who participated!  You’re all winners!

Saturday, July 2, 2022, kicked off the Independence Day Holiday weekend with the Village co-hosting with Cuba Township The Land We Love Run. Added to the 5K walk/run this year, was a two-mile walk and a 10K run. Participants came from as far as Arizona and California, from our neighboring suburbs, and from some suburbs “not so neighboring” (Oak Brook Terrace, Frankfort, Plainfield and Gilberts). Of course, many Barrington Hills residents participated with their families and invited guests.

“We missed it last year so we made it a point to be here this year,” shared Lili Miller of Barrington Hills whose entire family ran in the 5K and also medaled!

Lili placed second in her category, and her son, Ryan, placed first in his category! Congratulations to you both!

Resident and Folds of Honor Rep Bill Schey

Registrants this year nearly tripled from last year’s inaugural race to 120 registrants, coupled with volunteers’ and supporters’ donations,  The Land We Love Run generated proceeds of over $7,000 to benefit Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.

Barrington Hills resident, Marine Corps Veteran and Folds of Honor Board Member, Bill Schey, was in attendance representing Folds of Honor in which he explained how and where donations are used.  Folds of Honor sponsored the tent and donated their insignia lapel pins and challenge coins for the participants.

Most Patriotic Costume Winners

Awards were given to the first, second and third-place finishers in each category for the 2-mile walk, 5K walk/run and the 10K run as well as to those that placed in the overall results.  For the full list of race results, visit The Land We Love Race Results.

One special category that was not included in the timed results was Most Patriotic Costume. There was one group that stood out making it a difficult decision as to which individual to receive the medal, so it was awarded to the group! Congratulations!
