At last night’s Board of Trustees Meeting, Monday, August 26, President Brian Cecola’s appointment of Kyle Murphy as Chief of Police for the Village of Barrington Hills was unanimously approved by the Board. Congratulations Chief Murphy!
Chief Murphy comes to us from the Village of Wilmette where he started his law enforcement career 29 years ago as an officer and has been promoted through the ranks ultimately becoming the Department’s Chief of Police.
“I want to thank you for the confidence you have placed in me and for trusting me to lead the Police Department. Barrington Hills has a long-standing tradition of excellence in law enforcement, and I am committed to building upon the strong foundation that has been established,” said Murphy while addressing the Board. “The Department’s commitment to public safety is inspiring.”
Murphy was one of 50 candidates for the Chief of Police position which became available with the retirement of former Police Chief Joseph Colditz.
“We went through 50 applications, narrowed it down to three and decided upon Kyle,” said President Cecola. “He comes from many years of experience and is a great person…He is a great fit.”
Kyle Murphy was sworn into office after being approved by the Board, and President Cecola presented to Chief Murphy his Chief of Police badge, welcoming him to the Village. Several members of the Department were present for his swearing-in.
Chief Murphy’s first day as Chief of Police with the Barrington Hills Police Department will be September 9, 2024.
Residents will have the opportunity to personally meet Chief Murphy at this year’s Barrington Hills Fall Festival on Sunday, September 15, from Noon to 4 PM, located at the Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center: 361 Bateman Road (Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center).
Congratulations Police Chief Murphy and Welcome to the Village of Barrington Hills!
