BACOG Seeking Part-Time Executive Director

Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG) has a rich history of environmental planning and regional cooperative initiatives spanning over 40 years. BACOG met for the first time April 25, 1970 in recognition of the need for cooperation to respond to increasing development pressures and to protect the quality of life for residents in the Barrington Area. Its mission is “To foster cooperation and strategies to address regional challenges and support the BACOG Comprehensive Regional Plan.”  BACOG’s members are the Villages of Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, South Barrington, Tower Lakes and the Township of Barrington.

 

BACOG is seeking a Part Time Executive Director.  The job posting is below: 

The Part Time Executive Director who will join our team at the Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG) is the epitome of a big picture thinker. The Part Time Executive Director we’re pursuing is a positive, energetic, tenacious leader, but your real gift is the ability to analytically breakdown complex challenges and develop action-steps to generate the desired outcome. You will see all the moving parts.

You will direct the organization on behalf of its member governments and communicate the vision of its members, promote regional identity and build intergovernmental collaboration.  You are the definition of efficiency in land use planning and municipal, township, county and state development programs, budgeting and grants; with skills to research, conduct data analysis, and to read, interpret and apply laws, regulations and policies. 

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university is required; advanced degree in planning, public administration, public policy, environmental studies, or related field is desirable.
    • At least seven years’ experience working in such fields or working with local government, or a combination of related experience.
