Households with private wells are advised to test for bacteria and nitrates on an annual basis to detect these invisible, odorless contaminants. The annual BACOG Private Well Water Testing Event will be held Thursday, October 13, 11:00am- 6:30pm at The Barrington Area Library.

Test kits can be purchased for $16 (exact cash or by check made out to Lake County Health Department) at Village Hall from October 3rd through the 10th. BACOG will save you time and money by transporting your sample to the Lake County Health Department for testing, and your results will be emailed to you within 10 days. Any homeowner with positive results for bacteria or elevated nitrates will be contacted within 48 hours by the Lake County Health Department.
