PRESIDENT BRIAN CECOLA TO NOMINATE KYLE MURPHY
AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING

The Village of Barrington Hills is excited to announce that, after carefully considering nearly fifty national applicants, President Brian D. Cecola will nominate Kyle Murphy to fill the position of Barrington Hills’ Chief of Police, following the retirement of former Police Chief Joseph Colditz.

“I am looking forward to working with Chief Murphy and have no doubt that he will lead the Department with the exceptional standard of police service that the Village prides itself on,” said President Cecola.

Chief Kyle Murphy comes to our Village from the Village of Wilmette where he began his police career in 1995 as an officer. Over his tenure, he was promoted through the ranks, ultimately serving as the Chief of Police, beginning in 2017 and continuing until he retires from Wilmette early next month.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve as the next Police Chief for the Village of Barrington Hills. I am committed to building upon the foundation of trust and excellence that has been established, and I look forward to serving the community with integrity and dedication,” said Murphy.

Chief Murphy brings to the Village his experience and knowledge gained from serving in various law enforcement positions as well as from when he served as the Major Crimes Task Force Supervisor.

He graduated from Northern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology, and has completed the Senior Management Institute of Police (Police Executive Research Forum in association with Boston University).

The Board of Trustees will vote on Chief Murphy’s appointment at their August 26th meeting.
