The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District celebrated the professional accomplishments of its members during a May 17th ceremony that honored individuals for longtime Department service, recognized newly promoted officers, and welcomed firefighters who completed their one year of probationary service in 2020.

“This ceremony is an opportunity to spotlight our most important assets: our people,” explained Fire Chief Jim Kreher.  “On behalf of all BCFPD personnel and the communities we serve, I congratulate everyone who was honored tonight for their dedication and commitment.”

This year’s honorees are:

Service Awards

  • Trustee Tom Long, M.D. – Axe Plaque (symbolizing 25 years of Board service)
  • Battalion Chief Jeff Tress – Gold watch (20 years of service)
  • Trustee Keith Hanson – Plaque (five years of service)
  • Fire Prevention Director Robert Martel – Plaque (five years of service)
  • Firefighter/paramedic Mike Delillo – Plaque (five years of service)

Promotions

  • Angela Grandgeorge (to Battalion Chief)
  • Justin Kenyon (to Captain)
  • Zach Major (to Captain)
  • Tim Buhler (to Lieutenant)

Promoted officers and new firefighters were sworn in by members of the Board of Trustees.

The BCFPD’s annual awards ceremony normally takes place in January to recognize those who achieved service milestones and/or earned promotion during the prior year.  The 2021 event was delayed until May, due to COVID-19-related health and safety protocols.

Established in 1940, the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District serves portions of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington, Inverness, and sections of unincorporated Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.  BCFPD services are strengthened through a series of automatic aid agreements and partnerships with surrounding fire departments and fire districts.
