“From being selfless and doing things with integrity, extraordinary things happen” (Lisa Messenger).

Village of Barrington Hills is fortunate to have on its force Police Sergeant Ron Riedel, who is a living example of this inspirational quote.  On November 7, 2017, Sgt. Ron Riedel was dispatched to a home where there was an unresponsive 19 year-old female.  The subject was reported to have overdosed on heroin.  Upon arrival, Sgt. Riedel observed she was not breathing.  He immediately administered two doses of Naloxone (Narcan) that all BHPD Officers carry while on duty.  Almost immediately, the young woman began to breathe on her own.  The decisive actions taken by Sgt. Riedel saved her life.

To recognize Sgt. Riedel’s commendable actions, Police Chief Semelsberger presented him with the Barrington Hills Police Department Life Saving Award at February’s Board of Trustees Meeting.  Congratulations Sgt. Riedel, and to all of our Barrington Hills Police Officers for exemplary service and dedication!
