Cook County Clerk Encourages Veterans to Apply for Military and Veterans’ Discount Program

Veterans, active-duty personnel, and other members of the military can now apply online to receive a free discount card offering reduced costs and benefits from hundreds of businesses through the Cook County Clerk’s Military and Veteran’s Discount Program, according to the Office of Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough.
Applications for the discount program, which is administered jointly by the Clerk’s Office and the Cook County Office of Veterans Affairs, can be completed online in the wake of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The card provides veterans and active-duty military members with a free money-saving discount card and access to a diverse network of more than 200 participating businesses. Applications can be completed at cookcountyclerk.com/MilitaryDiscount.
“We are very proud to remain committed to the veterans and service members in Cook County and to offer this discount card that can provide important savings during these difficult economic times,” said Clerk Yarbrough. “We also thank the businesses of Cook County for their continued commitment to serving our military heroes.”
After completing the online application, veterans must submit the following to the Cook County Clerk’s Office:
- One color headshot photo;
- One copy of the following proof of service (DD-214, VA ID, CAC Card or Retired Military ID) card; and
- If submitting a DD-214, one copy of the following government-issued identification (Valid Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, CAC card, or VA ID).
The items should be mailed to the Cook County Clerk, Veterans Service Office, 118 N. Clark Street, Room 120, Chicago, Illinois 60602.
When all required documents have been received and verified, the Cook County Clerk’s Office will process the information and send the Cook County Military and Veterans Discount Card by mail.
The discounts range from a percentage of the service member’s total bill to free admission to a theater, museum, or sporting event.
