Earth Day is Friday, April 20th!

Thank you to those residents and area organizations who chose their Earth Day activity by volunteering to beautify our Village.

Spring usually reveals winter’s collection of litter along our roadways. History dictates there can be some interesting finds!  Acts of kindness and honoring Earth Day through this show of volunteerism are examples of what makes our community so special.

If you, too, would like to plan a volunteer clean-up day, the Village can supply the orange bags and safety vests (kindly return the vests ).

What are some other activities in honor of Earth Day?

🌳 Plant a tree! Stop at the Village’s Public Works Building to pick up your free oak sapling, while supplies last. Download here a Planting and Caring For Your Tree brochure.

🚶‍♀️ Connect with Nature! Take advantage of the many miles of Forest Preserves.

💛 Volunteer with a local conservation group! Citizens for Conservation (CFC), Barrington Area Conservation Trust or Friends of the Forest Preserves.

🐦Go birding! This can be done while on a bird walk sponsored by CFC or independently in an area Forest Preserve.

Create a bird feeder or birdhouse! Learn how by following this link.

🌱 Create seed jars! Follow this step-by-step guide.

🐝 Plan and create a pollinator garden! Transport your seedlings or directly sow pollinator seeds! Here’s how!
