Butterfly & Pollinator Hike

August 18, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Discover the wonder of local butterflies and pollinators on a hike with the Barrington Greenway Initiative and Citizens for Conservation.

The hike, at Grigsby Prairie on Sunday, August 18 from 1-3 p.m., will be led by Jim Vanderpoel, who will discuss the diversity of our native winged wildlife and the habitat that supports them. All ages and levels of experience are welcome on the hike, which is part of BGI’s Explore and Restore series. Hike alongside experienced volunteer stewards and staff from Citizens for Conservation, Audubon Great Lakes, Friends of the Forest Preserves, Forest Preserves of Cook County, and Lake County Forest Preserves.

Reservations are required as attendance is limited. Please email  hikes@citizensforconservation.org to request a spot. You will receive a confirmation reply with details on location.

BGI is a long-term plan, created and led by Citizens for Conservation, to expand and link fragmented natural habitats, increase biodiversity and advance ecosystems in the greater Barrington community from approximately Popular Creek north to Roberts Road. This partnership between CFC and other conservation groups and volunteers will link more than 14,000 acres of prairies, wetlands and forest preserves for conservation success and benefits to area residents.

BGI’s next event will be a native seed collecting party on Saturday, September 14.
