Small Business Resource Fair at Roosevelt U

Cook County Commissioner Kevin B. Morrison will host a Small Business Resource Fair to connect small business owners, start-ups, and entrepreneurs with community and government resources to help them start or grow their businesses, including presentations on procurement opportunities and tax incentives offered by Cook County Government. Free and open to the public, the event will be held Friday, November 8th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roosevelt University.

“My family owns and operates a small business, so I know how hard these individuals work. Small businesses are the economic engines of communities across my district, and I want to do everything I can as Commissioner to help them succeed and grow,” said Commissioner Kevin Morrison. “Everyone who will be at the Resource Fair is invested in the success of our small business community. It’s is a one-stop shop for anyone who wants to know more about the support that is available from incredible community organizations as well as the tax incentives, procurement opportunities, and economic development programs provided by Cook County.”

The Small Business Resource Fair will begin at 10 a.m. with coffee, networking, and a resource fair where attendees will be able to speak one-on-one with representatives from over a dozen community and government organizations with programming designed to assist small businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs grow or start a business. Additionally, there will be three presentations from Cook County Government agencies: 6B and 7C Tax Incentives 101 presented by the Cook County Assessor’s Office; How to do Business with Cook County presented by the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer, and BUILT in Cook County: Loan Program to Support Economic Development by the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development.

“Small business drives our regional economy,” said Xochitl Flores, Bureau Chief of Cook County’s Bureau of Economic Development. “It is vital that we provide opportunities especially to minority- and women-owned businesses to engage and learn about resources available to help their companies and our communities thrive.”

The Small Business Resource Fair is free and open to the public. The event is supported by community partners Schaumburg Township and Palatine Township. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Attendees have an opportunity to win tickets and parking passes to Brookfield Zoo and Chicago Botanic Garden.

Cook County Commissioner Kevin B.
