January 5 is National Bird Day! Whether you are a resident, visitor or passerby, there is no doubt you’ve seen, heard, photographed or, in some form, engaged with the many different species of birds that grace our skies, color the horizon, or forage in our prairies, grasslands and wetlands.

The Forest Preserves of Cook County maintains over 4,700 acres of forest preserve within our Village providing habitats for an extraordinary bird population. National Bird Day raises awareness to the  hardships and plights of these important animals.
