Kane County Offers Free CPR training through February

In recognition of February being National Heart Month, Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Health Department will offer FREE CPR training through the end of February. Spots are limited so register early.

Residents in all counties are welcomed to participate.

Three things you may not know about CPR1:
  • CPR SAVES LIVES
    • CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.
    • 9 in 10 people who have a cardiac arrest outside the hospital perish.
  • CARDIAC ARRESTS OFTEN HAPPEN AT HOME
    • About 7 in 10 of the 350,000 cardiac arrests that happen outside of hospitals happen at home.
    • Call 9-1-1 right away and do CPR until help arrives.
  • YOU DON’T NEED FORMAL TRAINING TO PERFORM CPR
    • Call 9-1-1 right away.
    • Give CPR
    • Continue giving CPR until medical professionals arrive.

How to tell whether someone is in cardiac arrest:
  • The person is unresponsive, even if you shake or shout at them.
  • The person isn’t breathing or is only gasping.
