Richard L. Duchossois of Barrington Hills turned 100 on Thursday, and what a century it’s been. The legendary former owner of Arlington Park, who engineered its rebirth after a 1985 fire, was a tank commander in World War II awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, a military governor in post-war Germany, a manufacturing magnate, a thoroughbred horse breeder and a major donor to the University of Chicago Medical Center and many other causes. Happy birthday, Mr. D!
