Private Well Test Kit Pick Up Begins Sept. 15

Mark your calendar! BACOG’s Annual Private Well Water Testing Event begins this month!

Private well owners should test the water in their home for bacteria and nitrates every year. Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG) is hosting a testing event, offering:

• Discounted kits for only $20 (EXACT cash, check payable to BACOG, or Zelle)
• Local water sample drop off at the Barrington Area Library
• Convenient hours

Pick up your water testing kit at Village Hall during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, September 15, through September 30.

Bring your private well water sample to the Barrington Area Library on October 1, between 11 AM and 6:30 PM.

Test results will be emailed to homeowners within two weeks. Any homeowner with positive results for bacteria or elevated nitrate levels will be contacted within 48 hours by the Lake County Health Department.

Although primarily a drop-off event, BACOG Staff will be there with information and takeaways, along with Lake County Health Department representatives, who will be available for water testing questions.
