Spoiler Alert…your backyard is not listed! Why? Because it’s illegal!
Unless you’ve hired a permitted, professional pyrotechnics company, your fireworks display is illegal. Fines range anywhere from $100 to $2,500 a day! Most would agree that could be better spent elsewhere.
As we celebrate Independence Day, please remember that fireworks can be dangerous and disruptive. Let’s keep our community and animals safe by following these important safety tips:
- Know the Law: Fireworks are illegal in Illinois, including firecrackers & bottle rockets.
- Leave it to the experts: Attend a public fireworks display managed by professionals.
- Be respectful: fireworks can disturb neighbors and frighten animals and pets. Please be considerate of your neighbors.
- Report Concerns: If you see dangerous activity, contact the police department by dialing 9-1-1.
