The Barrington Hills Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign from July 6 through July 31 reminding motorists to slow down to save lives. The speed enforcement effort was conducted by Barrington Hills Police Department and other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities.

During the campaign, Barrington Hills Police Department issued:

  • 277 speeding citations
  • 1 seat belt citation
  • 3 distracted driving citations
  • 92 other citations for moving, registration and equipment violations
  • 10 suspended/revoked or no valid license citations
  • 13 uninsured motorist citations
  • 1 fugitive apprehended
  • 367 total traffic stops
  • 362 total citations
  • 259 grant hours

“We continue to urge residents and others traveling through our community to slow down and obey speed limits,” said William Walsh. “The choices you make behind the wheel could help save lives.”

The speed enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
