And that’s a wrap! This week the Village’s new Board of Trustees had their first regular meeting!  Trustees Darby Hills, Jessica Hoffmann and John Carpenter Clarke took their seats among the sitting Board members to address the usual agenda items plus administrative topics, including a Civility Pledge, National Police Week & National Police Appreciation Month, and The Land We Love Run 5K/10K and 2-mile walk.

Who are your new Trustees? Here’s a brief intro:

TRUSTEE DARBY HILLS

Trustee Darby Hills is no stranger to our residents.  She was appointed as Village Trustee by President Brian Cecola in January 2022 to fill the vacated seat created with the unexpected passing of then Trustee Debra Buettner. Trustee Hills chose to run for election to continue her efforts of protecting the Village’s unique qualities such as zoning, open spaces, and an equestrian lifestyle; and to continue to ensure that Comprehensive Plan goals are met.

Trustee Hills, together with her husband Tom and three children, has resided in Barrington Hills for 16 years.  She is passionate about helping children and being the voice for those most vulnerable.  With her husband Tom, she cofounded Barrington Children’s Charities and for the last 13 years, has been helping local children living in food-insecure homes receive meals, eyeglasses, dental care and mental health services.

Trustee Hills is the Chairperson of the Village’s Building & Zoning and Planning Committees.

TRUSTEE JESSICA HOFFMANN

Trustee Jessica Hoffmann, together with her husband Mark and three children, has resided in Barrington Hills for the last 18 years.  She is committed to preserving the integrity of Barrington Hills for generations to come.   Maintaining our community’s traditions and lifestyle, taking special care of the Village’s landscape and the pristine financial record are of top priority to her.

She has been a licensed real estate broker for the last 15 years and is practicing for Wall Street Property Group, Inc.   Additionally, she manages rental properties and books events for her family’s various businesses. 

Trustee Hoffmann is the Chairperson of the Village’s Health Committee.

TRUSTEE JOHN CARPENTER CLARKE

Trustee John Carpenter Clarke, or as he prefers “J.C.”, is a Barrington Hills native. He grew up in Barrington Hills and attended District 220 schools. After living in various major US cities, he and his wife Meghan (who also grew up in the area) decided that Barrington Hills is the place to raise their family so they returned to Barrington Hills! 

He believes it is his civic responsibility to represent this community and the people who make it so wonderful. Residents can count on Trustee Clarke to protect the Village’s unique residential zoning laws, maintain fiscal responsibility, and perpetuate a culture that embraces the balance of privacy, nature, and open spaces.

Trustee Clarke has worked in media, marketing and advertising for the past 24 years, and is currently serving as an executive for a global ad tech platform.

Trustee Clarke is the Chairperson of the Village’s Environment Committee.
