This week is National Police Week, May 14 through May 20, a week during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Month that honors law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“On behalf of the Village of Barrington Hills, our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families impacted by the loss of a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice in serving the public,” said President Brian Cecola.

“During this month of National Police Appreciation, I want to personally thank our men and women in law enforcement and a special thank you to our very own Barrington Hills Police Department for putting our safety first before theirs.”

Police Officer Austin Thomas, on behalf of the Barrington Hills Police Department, attended the annual Lake County Police Memorial Service held on Friday, May 12, 2023.

“It drizzled throughout the ceremony which was a somber reminder of the occasion. They Posted the Colors, and the Pipers played Amazing Grace.  Everyone reflected upon the people that had passed and what they risked and sacrificed for the community,” said Officer Thomas.
