NO PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR 2023

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the Board of Trustees unanimously passed Ordinance 23-07, reducing the levy and assessment of taxes for fiscal year 2023. This marks the 10th consecutive year in which the Village’s portion of property taxes have either remained flat or have been reduced.  The $4,796,500 levy, payable in 2024, reflects a one percent decrease, equivalent to $48,800.

“It’s quite an achievement to be able to accomplish this for our residents. Smart spending and a conservative budget made this possible.  We’re making history and it is our intention to continue this trend,” said President Brian Cecola.

The 2024 budget, which was approved by the Board in November, takes into consideration the Village’s objective of maintaining the tax levy rate in the upcoming fiscal year. President Cecola thanked the Finance Committee and Village Staff for their commitment and many hours devoted to preparing the new budget.

Residents are reminded that the Village of Barrington Hills is an appropriations municipality, which by ordinance, provides the Village additional funds should a scenario arise.
