Today is National Day of the Horse

Federal recognition of December 13, 2004, as the “National Day of the Horse” was established by Senate Resolution No. 452.  It was proclaimed to be a day to recognize the importance of horses to the nation’s security, economy, history, character and recreation.  

Since 2004, horse owners and equine organizations have continued to mark this date with educational programs, social media outreach and activities.  Among the ways that equine enthusiasts and supporters can continue this tradition of honoring the contribution of horses to our country include making a donation to, or volunteering for, an equine-related non-profit organization.
