The Barrington Hills Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s campaign aimed to reduce the number of crashes and deaths caused by speeding.

For a little over a three-week period in July (July 9 – August 1), the Barrington Hills Police Department intensified its enforcement of posted speed limits.

The campaign yielded the following:

  • 226 speeding citations
  • 3 distracted driving citations
  • 109 other citations for moving, registration and equipment violations
  • 5 suspended/revoked or no valid license citations

“We continue to urge residents and others traveling through our community to slow down and obey speed limits,” said William Walsh, Community Service Officer with the Barrington Hills Police Department.
“The choices you make behind the wheel could help save lives.”

Federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation made the speed enforcement effort possible.
