As we enjoy the Labor Day holiday weekend, let’s appreciate those who came before us and those working today whose hard work impacts everyday life, strengthening our communities, supporting the local economy, and contributing to the prosperity and progress of our nation.
Labor Day grew out of the American labor movement of the late 1800s, when workers came together to advocate for fair wages, better working conditions, and reasonable hours. In 1894, Labor Day became a federal holiday, creating a day to recognize the contributions of workers and the important role they play.
